The Prime Minister of the Caribbean island of Dominica posted live on Facebook as Hurricane Maria battered the country, including his own residence.
“My roof is gone,” the PM Roosevelt Skerrit posted Monday night. “I am at the complete mercy of the hurricane. House is flooding.”
Skerrit wrote the updates as Maria, a category 5 hurricane, barreled over the island with 160 mile-per-hour sustained winds.
He later posted “I have been rescued” followed by an update of Dominica’s storm damage.
“So far we have lost all what money can buy and replace,” he wrote early Tuesday.
“My focus now is in rescuing the trapped and securing medical assistance for the injured.”
Hurricane Maria was scheduled to slam into Puerto Rico on Wednesday.
